Training of the youth leaders of your troop is important in helping the individual scout and the troop grow. The Huguenot Trail District and the Boy Scouts of America have developed a weekend long training experience that has proven valuable in the training of youth leaders. Your troop is invited to participate.
In order to attend, a Scout should be at least Star Rank, 14 years of age and currently filling a leadership position in your troop or he should be a Scout you feel is destined for key leadership positions. He may only attend on your recommendation. Please add a statement if scouts you nominate do not meet this minimum requirements. The course will stress key areas of benefit to your troop: skills of leadership and team building that will make your youth leader more effective in his job. The course is scheduled for March 12-14. It will be conducted at Cub Adventure Camp in Goochland County. Scouts and staff will stay in camp housing and eat in the dining hall. The cost is $70.00 per Scout and includes all meals, course t-shirt, programs and materials. Each troop in the district may nominate up three participants. Scoutmasters should place their nominations in order of priority. The staff and district leadership will assess the nominations and select the participants. This represents a great opportunity for your troop. I know the program will make a positive difference in the lives of the Scouts who participate and greatly enhance your troop program.
