Order of the Arrow Ceremony Team

The OA Chapter 18 Ceremony Team was recently formed to conduct Arrow of Light ceremonies
for Packs and Call-Out ceremonies for Troops in the Huguenot Trail District. The Team currently
consists of six youth members.

The Ceremony Team needs to quickly increase its number of members in order to be able to fulfill
more of the Pack and Troop requests that it is receiving. We are looking for additional Arrowmen
willing to commit to actively participate on the Team on a regular basis. This is a meaningful way
for Arrowmen to provide cheerful service to Cub Scouts and fellow Boy Scouts in our district.

Interested OA members may contact the Ceremony Team’s Youth Chair (Brenton) and the
Team’s Advisor, Jim Hemenway (ceremonyteam@huguenottrail.org) to obtain more
information and to pursue joining the Ceremony Team.

New Eagle Workbook

The District Advancement Committee wants to alert you about the new Eagle Project
requirements and the new Eagle Scout Project Workbook (http://scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-927_fillable.pdf) that is required for those seeking project approvals starting in 2012.

You will need to familiarize yourself with the modifications in the new Eagle process in order to facilitate the progress of our Life Scouts toward the Eagle
rank. The new Eagle Workbook asks for some detailed information that was not required
before. Additionally, the Project Proposal itself doesn’t require near the detail for the
execution of the project that was required in the old workbook.

All scouts are working on their Eagle Project but have not yet had it approved by the district will need to be using the new Eagle Workbook (http://scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-927_fillable.pdf).

District Pinewood Derby

The Huguenot Trail Pinewood Derby will be held February 25th. The following are the rules that will be followed during derby. Individual Packs should use these as a guide for their own Pinewood Derby.

These rules have been developed over the years to help ensure that each entry
does not provide an unfair advantage over their competition. The are unchanged from last year.

Download the Official Rules (/media/2010/2010.PinewoodDerby.pdf)

Clarification: NO pre-made/cut cars are allowed. This includes "official" BSA pre-made kits by Revell or other manufactures. Use of these kits is not in the spirit of Scouting.
